Well, I cannot afford it without blinking...But I am still feeling like a bit of a freak because I appeared to be the only blogger at TTN that didn't own a laptop.
I don't have a laptop either, but have been through a few. I'm happy with the screen at my desk, and don't have to worry about dropping it. Depending on your platform, $600 will get you a laptop. My son has an ipod Touch for $300 but I can only text with it and not upload graphics, so it's good for posting a comment at a blog but not if you want to get fancy with a post.
I think it's essentially a matter of how you can be the most productive, for what you've set out to do.
Well, I have a VERY old iBook...blue, from 2001 or so...It crapped out on me, not surprisingly, just over a year ago. I had to settle for a Dell desktop in replacement because I don't have much of a budget for these things. I'm actually pretty happy with it, and I love the monitor I have, too.

But is it worth the money?
On another note, because I thought you MIGHT possibly be interested, my review of The Shock Doctrine is now up.

Absolutely I'm interested.
On the Mac Air the answer is yes - if you can afford it without blinking! Most people are better off and happier with a 15" black iBook.

Glad I'm not the only one.
